Article: Marietta Art in the Park 2025

Marietta Art in the Park 2025

Setup day: It’s Labor Day weekend, and I’m lying in bed at nearly 9:30 PM in our Airbnb, about 15 minutes from the event. Shelly and I arrived in Marietta around 5:15 PM; setup started at 5:30, and we wrapped up around quarter till eight. Afterward, we headed to a Thai restaurant before checking into the Airbnb. Her back probably hurts as much as mine, but she’s in the shower right now so I can’t ask. 🙂 We ate at Tubtim Siam Thai, and it was delicious: https://maps.app.goo.gl/4nM6iXrA6eFRySvs5?g_st=ipc

Day 1: Saturday. Our sales were 24% lower than last year on the same day, but the weather was better, and we have no complaints. After the show ended, we ate at a Greek restaurant called It’s Greek to Us. We both had chicken souvlaki and an appetizer of fried feta, which was delicious. It’s almost 7 PM now, and we’re resting in our Airbnb after restocking drinks for tomorrow. Batteries are charging—ours and our devices alike.

Day 2: Sunday.  Our sales were 8.5% higher than last year on the same day.  For breakfast this day, we ate at the Marietta Diner (306 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060) with no regrets!  A nostalgic restaurant with a lot of seating and a big menu.  We both enjoyed it and would eat there again!  For dinner, the Marietta Pizza Company on the Marietta Square.

Day 3: Monday.  We had breakfast at the "Marietta Local" on the square and we would not eat there again. $55 breakfast for two, no real silverware, bottled water only, get your own $4 coffee, lukewarm food.  For lunch, I couldn't leave the square without having the Fish and Chips from the Australian Cafe!

Sales were down 45% this day, but still not a bad show and I have no complaints.  We were well supported by the community and I am truly grateful!

At show closing, we were packed up and on the road in less than one hour!  Shelly and I largely have the process down.  We don't even have to talk much during breakdown because we're both just working, working, working - no one slouches, no one stands around wondering what to do next, no one argues!  For dinner we grabbed Chik-Fil-A on the drive home and we were able to sleep in our own beds this night.  I unpacked the trailer and truck on Tuesday - but I will be restocking and loading it up again on Thursday.  Friday we hit the road for Bethesda Row art show and then onto Ohio to see my new grandchild, Bella.
