Below are descriptions for each piece I have mounted on the wall of the gallery.
Say Hello to My ‘Little’ Friend | An ode to one of my favorite films, Scarface. I hand built the shower, chainsaw, shower head and handcuffs. The shower curtain is made from one of the retail bags I sell my artwork in at art shows. I fried the funnel cake then added strawberry topping and powdered sugar. The Mini-fig you see is the only one in the world because I made it myself using a portrait of Tony Montana as the reference. The cigar in his hand is hand-painted. The chainsaw is made from polymer clay, a painted popsicle stick and painted jewelry chain. The shower head is the tip of a thumbtack with a piece of aluminum wire, both painted in chrome. |
Little Lebowski |
Is this your photograph, Larry? Is this your photograph? With hand-painted, dinged up pins and ball, this dude abides. Just ask Donny in the miniature Folger’s can. This piece will really tie your room together, man. And hell, I can get you a copy of it by 3 o’clock this afternoon ... with a mat. Now why don’t you just go find a cash machine? Brandt can't watch you buy it, though, or he has to pay a hundred. |
Tread Lightly | Breaking Bad is my all-time favorite television series and the title of this photo comes from my favorite line. Walt: “If that's true. If you don't know who I am, then maybe your best course would be to tread lightly." |
Date Night | Not a day goes by that I don’t feel gratitude for having another day in this short life, with Shelly, the love of my life. This is one of the first whimsical photos I captured, inspired by our love for having found one another late in life. I built the couch using felt and wood. The dollhouse lamp actually lights up, like me when I’m around Shelly. |
Wheeeeeee!! | I boiled a tongue depressor and shaped it around a soup can to make the slide. The Froot Loop “floaties” are held in place with dowel rods and clay to prevent movement. The milk? Well... it’s milk. The Cheerio suspended in air, is really suspended wi... wait why am I telling you all of my secrets? |
Solo | This is # 100 of 100 - the last “Solo” that I will ever sell. # 1 - 99 are gone.
Lando: “Lord Vader, we only use this facility for carbon freezing. If you put him in there, it might kill him.” The movie, the scene, the dialogue, all iconic! Now freeze your childhood in time with this frozen Han Solo! No Wookies were harmed in the making of this photo. |
The Last Breakfast | I made the table from wood, the table cloth is printed paper and all items on the table except mugs are made from polymer clay. Mugs are made from paper, metal and wood glue and both would fit on a penny. Every piece of cereal is mounted behind the table, this is not AI or faked. The pop-tart was also hand made and baked (using polymer clay) Can you name all of the cereal?? From left to right: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cap’n Crunch Berry, Lucky Charms, home-made pop-tart, Froot Loop, Frosted Flake, Heart Shaped Cheerio, Cap’n Crunch, Apple Jacks, Frosted Mini Wheat, Cheerio, Cookie Crisp, Raisin Bran. |
Cereal Killer Line-Up | Perfect for your kitchen, dining room or office wall. Hang this unique conversation starter anywhere you want to make people smile ... like you did when you saw it. I had a dream about Froot Loops evolving from a pool of milk and ultimately that became a photo we have called “Evolve”. While creating that photo, the one in your hand came to mind. The name of the photo was a natural choice! How did I get them to stand up? I’ll tell you if you really, really, really want to know. But consider the value in not knowing. Stare at it and wonder. Let your friends do the same. |
Come Play with Us, Danny | The Shining is my all-time favorite film, although it scared the hell out of me as a child. The soundtrack is superb and immediately recognizable by anyone who has seen the movie. Shelly and I stayed at the Timberline Lodge in Mt. Hood, Oregon in 2021. A façade of the Timberline Lodge was built in England and used for the vast majority of outdoor scenes in the movie. In fact, any scene that has an actor in it was filmed in England. We see an aerial view of the real Timberline Lodge during opening credits of the movie but that’s it! The elevators in the movie, with symbolic patterns around the border, are “very strongly influenced” by the elevators in The Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite National Park. |
Evolve | I dreamt this scene, woke up and went to work recreating it. There is value in not knowing how I created this photo, but I’ll tell you the photo is unedited. Everything you see is real, including the reflection of the cereal. Let your imagination do the rest. |
Happy Campers | My parents passed a love of camping and the outdoors to me from a young age. The majority of my adult camping experience has been in a good old fashioned tent! Waking up to birds chirping and the sun rising while cooking breakfast over the fire next to someone you love madly is just magical. I hand wove each camping chair, making 9 in total until I had two I loved. The chair frame was made by forcing aluminum wire around a USB key. The coffee mugs are made from paper, metal and wood glue. The hotdog and marshmallow were hand shaped from polymer clay. The logs are branches from my back yard. The stones are from a nearby church parking lot. I used fire resistant gel to coat the stones, wood and surface when building this real fire, as not to torch my house! The tent is made from a North Face jacket I’m going to miss dearly. The tent screen is made from the lining of that jacket. The tent stakes are toothpicks. Ahh, the great outdoors! |
Love is Weird (w/Spoon) | Roses are red, violets are blue, love is weird and so is your dog. I'm not sure how to describe this photo and neither is my therapist. Embrace your inner weirdo. This image isn't for everyone but if you've read this far - it's probably for you. If you’ve ever known love, you know how weird it can be. You can find it where you least expect it, or it can find you when you were looking the other way. Love is good. |
YMCA | Be exactly who you are, no matter who you are. Don’t let anyone but you define your love. “Those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter” – Dr. Seuss You can hear it in your head, can’t you? “Young man, there’s no need to feel down…” …”it's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A.!” |
Macho Men | I found parts in 3 countries to assemble this photo because Lego never sold “The Village People”. The leathermans hat, for example, came from an airline pilot character. |
May the Fork Be With You! | There are a handful of scenes in Star Wars that are iconic and for me, the trash compactor scene is one of them. The concept for this photo came to mind in early 2024 but like most of my photos, I gave it consideration for several weeks or months, mentally continuing to make changes to what I believed would be the finished piece. I can’t just take a photo to take a photo, I must feel a connection to the subject and when that moment struck me in April 2024, I began to physically piece the scene together. I designed the Noodle box in Photoshop and then printed and assembled it. I used a woodworkers Pony Vice, which was originally bright orange, for the “trash compactor”. I rusted all of the bright orange parts with actual iron to give it a more authentic look and feel. The Pad Thai is very real and is a favorite dish of Shelly's and mine. (Shout out to Sirin Thai on Old Buncombe Road in Greenville, SC!) Can you spot the tiny fight scene in the photograph? I saw the original Star Wars in a theatre when I was about six. Like most people who see it for the first time, it had a lasting impression on me! I tried to keep this photo as reasonably accurate to the original scene as I could, replacing the fear of characters being crushed with something we can all smile about. |
The Natural | Robert Redford was at his very best in this 1984 favorite childhood film of mine. Who could forget when he literally knocked the leather off the ball. Women loved him, men wanted to be him – even if they had never swung a bat in their life. 108 red stiches trace this well used baseball against a dark background. This is a man’s game, no matter what position you play or from where you sit in the stands. Currently, Aroldis Chapman holds the record for the fastest recorded pitch in the history of major league baseball at a speed of 105.1 mph. He has also thrown a pitch that reached 106 mph in a different game, but this speed has been disputed, so the current record sits at 105.1 mph |
