This is the oldest lighthouses in Maine, built around 1787 for less than $3,000. It is located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine and is free to visit. We visited this lighthouse twice in October of 2020 for sunset and sunrise . We arrived at 5:30am and listened to the crashing waves, in the dark. I fell in the water as I scrambled my way to the lower rocks at low tide. Thankfully no one was hurt and we were able to capture this memory of the lighthouse.
We were car camping on a 4,000 mile adventure from South Carolina to the most northeastern part of the United States, Lubec, Maine to Ohio and home again. We were up at 4:30am every day of the trip and asleep by 9pm. This is one of the most relaxing, scenic spots I have ever had the pleasure to have been.
